Kumawu sits in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, the traditional seat of Kumawuman – one of the historic divisions of the Ashanti Kingdom, a state built on gold, trade, and a system of chieftaincy that still governs local life today. The Ashanti are known for kente cloth, woven in patterns that carry specific meanings, and for Akan traditions passed down through generations of chiefs and queen mothers.

AKYEREMA FOUNDATION
The Akyerema Foundation is a non-profit organization created by three alumni (“Akyerema”) including acting Chairman, Professor Yaw Nyarko, Mr. Roland Akosah, and Mr. Roberto Danso Boakye, to support the Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School (TKSHS) and young people in Kumawu, Ghana. Its mission is to encourage charitable giving among past students to give back, empower youth, and support educational programs. It organizes annual award programs to honor top-performing students and tutors across departments, and collaborates with the NYU Center for Technology and Economic Development.
Africa 7 will engage students and teachers at Tweneboa Kodua Senior High School (TKSHS) in a dedicated on-campus event that underscores the project’s focus on education, creativity, and opportunity.
